Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration causes damage to the macula, a small spot near the central retina.

Risk factors include:

  • Smoking
  • Family history of Age Related Macular Degeneration

Symptoms:

  • Blurring of your central vision
  • Loss of contrast sensitivity
  • Distortion of central vision (this is more commonly associated with wet AMD)
