Retinal Vein Occlusion

Retinal vein occlusion is the blockage of small veins in the retina. Risk factors include:

  • Atherosclerosis
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Other eye conditions, such as glaucoma, macular edema, or vitreous hemorrhage

Symptoms:

  • Sudden & painless vision loss
  • Cotton wool spots
  • Haemorrhage
  • Retina oedema (swelling of the retina)
